THE SHEPHERD WHO DIED TO SAVE HIS SHEEP!
Shepherds guard, guide, and give—but few would die for their flock. Jesus is not just a protector; He is the Shepherd who laid down His life. Amid wolves, thieves, and scattered sheep, He stands between danger and deliverance. This blog explores Christ’s role as our Shepherd—one who knows, calls, and saves each of His sheep.

THE DOOR THAT DEFENDS AND DEFINES
Jesus said, “I am the door of the sheep” (John 10:7). He is both access and protection. Sr. White writes, “Through false teachers, Satan tempts men to trust in themselves… but Christ is the door” (The Desire of Ages, p. 477). All who enter by Him find pasture, not peril. He doesn’t just show the way—He is the way.

A VOICE THAT THE SHEEP KNOW
“The sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name” (John 10:3). Christ’s call is personal, not general. Sr. White notes, “It is not the fear of punishment, or the hope of everlasting reward, that leads the disciples of Christ to follow Him” (The Desire of Ages, p. 480). His voice awakens trust. His word becomes our compass.

HIRELINGS FLEE—THE SHEPHERD STAYS
“The hireling fleeth… because he careth not for the sheep” (John 10:13). False shepherds seek gain, not sacrifice. In contrast, “The good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep” (John 10:11). Sr. White explains, “Christ, the heavenly Shepherd, risked His own life… to seek and to save that which was lost” (The Desire of Ages, p. 478). Love is proven by presence, not position.

ONE FLOCK, ONE SHEPHERD
“There shall be one fold, and one shepherd” (John 10:16). Jesus looks beyond borders, uniting Jew and Gentile, broken and mended. Sr. White reveals, “The Saviour longs to manifest His grace… that all may be gathered into one fold” (The Desire of Ages, p. 483). His goal is unity in truth—not uniformity in tradition.

Jesus does not hire help—He comes Himself. He bears the wounds, carries the lambs, and calls each sheep by name. “He cares for each one as if there were not another on the earth for whom He gave His life” (The Desire of Ages, p. 483). Love walks the hills to find the one who wandered. As His sheep, I must listen, follow, and trust. “My sheep hear my voice… and they follow me” (John 10:27). Sr. White affirms, “It is the voice of the Good Shepherd that speaks to us in the Scriptures” (The Desire of Ages, p. 390). My duty is not to lead—but to follow faithfully. I must not scatter the flock or ignore the straying. I must reflect the Shepherd’s heart. Sr. White writes, “Christ commits to His followers an individual work… in behalf of the perishing” (The Desire of Ages, p. 141). If He seeks the lost, so must I.

FOLLOW THE ONE WHO DIED FOR YOU
Jesus is not a distant caretaker—He is the Shepherd who bled to bring us home. His voice still calls. His staff still guides. His fold still waits. Let us follow Him—not for reward, but because we are His.
