LOUD CRY LEGACY!: A CALL TO ARMS!

“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” – Revelation 18:4

ABSTRACT

The world stands poised on the brink of a cataclysmic transformation, a moment when the very foundations of spiritual allegiance will be tested. This article delves into the profound pronouncements of Revelation 18, unraveling the message of the loud cry and its implications for every soul. We explore the urgent call to come out of Babylon, the fullness of divine judgment, the nature of the final proclamation, and the responsibilities that rest upon those who heed this warning. Our aim illuminates the path to spiritual readiness, drawing from the sacred texts and the inspired writings, ensuring that every reader, regardless of background, can grasp the gravity of this hour.

BABYLON’S BIG FALL!

The angel’s declaration in Revelation 18:2, “And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird,” resounds with a chilling urgency. Babylon falls as a stark revelation of the deepening apostasy that has permeated spiritual institutions since 1844. Ellen G. White notes, “The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel, is repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844” (Early Writings, p. 277, 1882). She further emphasizes the insidious nature of this decline: “The fall of Babylon will be caused by the mingling of error with the truth. It is thus that the people will be deceived” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 6, p. 19, 1901). Babylon, in its symbolic totality, represents those religious bodies that have strayed from divine truth, choosing worldly alliances over unwavering fidelity to God. We see this today in the ecumenical movements that dilute the pure principles of the gospel, where compromises are made for the sake of unity, sacrificing truth on the altar of expediency. “Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The Lord hath redeemed his servant Jacob” (Isaiah 48:20). “And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee” (Revelation 18:22). Ellen G. White challenges us: “The call comes to us, ‘Go out from among them, and be ye separate’ (2 Corinthians 6:17). If we refuse to obey this call, if we remain in Babylon, we must share her fate” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 234, 1885). “The churches, represented by Babylon, are represented as having fallen from their spiritual state to become a persecuting power against those who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, p. 117, 1923). This is a clarion call to separate from spiritual compromise, to stand firm on the bedrock of God’s unchanging word. How can we examine our hearts to ensure we have not become entangled in these subtle yet pervasive corruptions?

SIN’S DEADLY LIMIT!

The fullness of Babylon’s wickedness has reached its zenith, as Revelation 18:5 proclaims, “For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” This verse signals a critical juncture in the divine narrative, where human transgression has reached a point necessitating divine intervention. “These announcements uniting with the third angel’s message constitute the final warning to be given to the inhabitants of the earth” (The Great Controversy, p. 604, 1911). Sr. White paints a vivid picture of this time: “The world is filling up with crime. The iniquity of the inhabitants of the earth has reached a fearful height. Soon the cup of God’s wrath will be filled” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 9, p. 28, 1909). The world, with its rampant immorality and rejection of God’s law, mirrors the conditions that precipitated the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. “And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years” (Genesis 6:3). “And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible” (Isaiah 13:11). “The world is filling up its cup of iniquity, and the Lord is preparing to pour out His wrath upon the transgressors of His law” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 525, 1889). “The earth is waxing old like a garment; the end of all things is at hand; and the judgments of God are about to be poured out upon a guilty world” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 6, p. 407, 1901). This is not a distant, abstract concept; it is the reality playing out in our communities, our families, and even within our own hearts. Will we respond to the divine summons to repentance and reformation? The call to “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues” (Revelation 18:4) is a decisive command, demanding an immediate and unequivocal response. What will we do to ignore the signs of the times?

WORLDWIDE WARNING!

The message of the loud cry, conveyed by an angel “having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory” (Revelation 18:1), signifies the culmination of the gospel commission. This final proclamation will penetrate every corner of the globe, leaving no one untouched. “For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth” (Acts 13:47). “And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts” (Haggai 2:7). Sr. White describes the intensity of this final appeal: “The message will be carried not so much by argument as by the deep conviction of the Spirit of God. The arguments have been presented. The seed has been sown, and now it will spring up and bear fruit” (The Great Controversy, p. 611, 1911). “This is a time when every soul needs to cling to the hand of Infinite Power. The most precious truths for this time are the first utterance of the voice of God echoing to us through His Word. The specifications of truth, reaching to minutes particulars, have been located in the Word of God” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 717, 1889). The sealing of the 144,000 (Revelation 7:4) underscores the urgency of this time, as they are prepared to stand in the face of unparalleled tribulation. “And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.” (Revelation 7:4). Sr. White emphasizes the significance of this sealing: “The seal of the living God will be placed upon those only who bear a likeness to Christ in character” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 216, 1889). She further clarifies: “Those that overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil, will be the favored ones who shall receive the seal of the living God” (Early Writings, p. 43, 1882). We reflect the light of this final message in our daily lives by allowing the Spirit to refine us, preparing us for the moment when we must stand before the judgment seat. What steps can we take to allow the Spirit to guide us?

GOD’S FURY UNLEASHED!

When the final message is rejected, the judgments of God will be poured out upon the earth. “And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God” (Revelation 15:1). These plagues, as detailed in Revelation 16:1-21, are not arbitrary acts of vengeance but manifestations of divine justice, revealing the consequences of persistent rebellion. “The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel” (Joel 3:16). “And the Lord shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?” (Joel 2:11). “But not one is made to suffer the wrath of God until the truth has been brought home to his mind and conscience, and has been rejected” (The Great Controversy, p. 604, 1911). God’s mercy is evident even in these judgments, as they serve to expose the deceptions that have ensnared humanity. We see these deceptions in the rise of false prophets, the proliferation of spiritualism, and the insidious encroachment of papal power. “For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” (Revelation 6:17). “And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains” (Revelation 6:15). Sr. White elaborates on the purpose of these judgments: “God permits the wicked to develop their true character, that none who desire to do right may be deceived concerning them” (The Great Controversy, p. 658, 1911). She further warns: “The plagues of God are about to fall upon the world, and those who are unprepared for their visitation will be without God and without hope in the earth” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 6, p. 428, 1901). We must understand that God’s wrath is not about destruction, but about revealing the true state of our hearts. How can we remain vigilant against these forces?

HOLY HELPERS RISE!

The final work will not be accomplished by human might or intellectual prowess, but by men and women filled with the Holy Spirit. “As the time comes for it to be given with greatest power, the Lord will work through humble instruments… The laborers will be qualified rather by the unction of His Spirit than by the training of literary institutions” (The Great Controversy, p. 606, 1911). This is a call to consecration, to surrender our lives to the divine purpose. The victory over Satan comes “by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony” (Revelation 12:11). “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty” (1 Corinthians 1:27). “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished” (2 Peter 2:9). Sr. White urges us to seek this divine empowerment: “We need to plead with God for the Holy Spirit. It is by the Spirit that the heart is made pure. It is by the Spirit that we receive power” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 158, 1889). She further emphasizes: “The Lord has a work for everyone to do. He will use those who yield themselves to Him, who will respond to the claims of duty” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 9, p. 117, 1909). The Lord desires to use those who are willing to be molded by His hand. How can we allow the Spirit to empower us for service?

LOVE’S LAST CALL!

The loud cry is fundamentally a message of love, an urgent plea from a compassionate God who desires to save every soul. “The sins of Babylon will be laid open… By these solemn warnings, the people will be stirred” (The Great Controversy, p. 606, 1911). Even in judgment, God’s mercy shines through, offering a final opportunity for repentance. The sealing of the righteous (Revelation 7:4) is a testament to His desire to protect those who choose Him. God’s love is shown in His patient warnings, His desire to educate and reveal truth, and His protection of those who follow Him. God does not willingly bring destruction, but allows the consequences of sin to unfold to show the true nature of rebellion. “For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye” (Ezekiel 18:32). “For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob” (Isaiah 14:1). Sr. White eloquently captures this divine love: “God’s love has been expressed in the gift of His Son. It is infinite, and it will create love in all who receive it” (Steps to Christ, p. 14, 1892). She further emphasizes: “God’s love is not a mere impulse. It is a principle, a divine reality” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 164, 1889). We respond to this love with gratitude and obedience, living according to His will. How can we embrace this love in our daily lives?

DUTY TO DIVINE!

In light of these truths, our duty toward God is clear: we must surrender our lives fully to Him. “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). True faith is not passive but active, demonstrated through obedience and consecration. “Those who are arraigned before the courts, make a strong vindication of the truth, and some who hear them are led to take their stand” (The Great Controversy, p. 607, 1911). Our lives must be living testimonies, reflecting the righteousness of Christ. We must be willing to stand for truth, even in the face of opposition. We must examine our hearts, ensuring that every aspect of our lives is aligned with God’s will. This means daily prayer, diligent study of the Scriptures, and a willingness to be led by the Spirit. “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22). “I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me” (Ezekiel 33:7). Sr. White challenges us: “Consecrate yourself to God in the morning; make this your very first work. Let your prayer be, ‘Take me, O Lord, as wholly Thine. I lay all my plans at Thy feet. Use me today in Thy service. Abide with me, and let all my work be wrought in Thee’” (Steps to Christ, p. 70, 1892). She further emphasizes the importance of complete surrender: “God requires of His people not merely a tithe, but all that they possess” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 6, p. 344, 1901). We respond to God’s call with total surrender. How can we fulfill our duty to God in these times?

TRUTH FOR ALL!

The knowledge of truth is not given for selfish preservation but for the salvation of others. “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out… And he shall send Jesus Christ” (Acts 3:19-20). We must share the warning, leading souls out of deception and into the light of Christ’s truth. “The fearful results of enforcing the observance of the church by civil authority… all will be unmasked” (The Great Controversy, p. 606, 1911). This means that silence is not an option. We must be bold in our witness, sharing the gospel with those around us. We must be willing to stand for truth, even when it is unpopular. We must love our neighbors as ourselves, seeking their salvation above our own comfort. This is the essence of the Great Commission in Mark 16:15, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” “And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do” (Exodus 18:20). Sr. White urges us to be active in our outreach: “We are to warn the world of the coming judgments, and call upon men to prepare for the great day of God” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 9, p. 28, 1909). She further emphasizes the personal responsibility we each bear: “Every one of us has a work to do in warning the world” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 6, p. 298, 1901). We bear responsibility for sharing the truth with others. How can we fulfill this mission in our communities?

FINAL VICTORY!

The time is at hand. “As yet the four winds are held until the servants of God shall be sealed in their foreheads” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 6, p. 14, 1901). The battle lines are drawn, and the choice before us is clear. We prepare to stand for truth, no matter the cost, surrendering every aspect of our lives to Christ. The loud cry is not merely a prophecy—it is a call to action. Let us rise to the occasion, that we may be among those who stand victorious when our Lord returns. Let us remember the words of 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” And let us heed the final admonition of Revelation 14:12, “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” “For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch” (Malachi 4:1). “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up” (2 Peter 3:10). Sr. White reminds us: “We are living in the great day of atonement. Now, while the investigative judgment is going forward in heaven, every name is to be brought in review before God” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 488, 1889). She further challenges us: “Let us strive with all the power that God has given us to be among the hundred and forty-four thousand” (Early Writings, p. 15, 1882). The message of the loud cry calls us to spiritual awakening, a summons to separate from the corruptions of Babylon and stand firm on the foundation of God’s Word. It offers both warning and hope, revealing the impending judgments of God while offering a final opportunity for repentance and salvation. Let us heed this call, surrendering our lives fully to Christ, and fulfilling our responsibilities toward God and our fellow man. The time is short, and the stakes are eternal. Let us be found faithful when our Lord returns. May we each echo the prayer of the Psalmist: “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24).

REVELATION 18:4 “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”
