COUNTERFEIT: CLASH OF HEAVENLY FIRE AND DIABOLICAL DECEPTION!

“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” (Isaiah 8:20, KJV)

ABSTRACT

This article explores the prophetic events of the last days, highlighting Satan’s counterfeit miracles against God’s heavenly judgment, the timeline of deception, latter rain, close of probation, and our responsibilities in light of God’s love.

AWAKE! ETERNITY’S EDGE AWAITS!

We stand today at the precipice of eternity, and the air is thick with prophetic tension. The final scenes of the great controversy between Christ and Satan are unfolding not in some distant, nebulous future, but before our very eyes. This is not a time for the faint of heart, nor for the spiritually drowsy. It is a time for clarity, for courage, and for a faith anchored so deeply in the bedrock of Scripture that no storm can move it. The purpose of this article is to pull back the veil, to examine with theological precision the climactic events foretold in the books of Daniel and Revelation. We will untangle the divine timeline, contrast God’s solemn work of judgment with Satan’s dazzling counterfeit, and equip ourselves to stand firm against the most powerful delusion this world has ever faced. The Scriptures are our safeguard, and as we study them diligently, we are fortified against deception, for “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts” (2 Peter 1:19, KJV). Through faithful obedience to God’s Word, we gain the victory over sin, as it is written, “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57, KJV). “The people of God need to study what characters they must form in order to pass through the test and proving of the last days. Many who are now full of vanity and self-sufficiency, now lauding their own wisdom and idolizing their own abilities, will be fearfully disappointed in the day of test and trial. The most painful revelations of our own sinfulness will come to those who have put God out of their thoughts and been self-sufficient, self-righteous. I warn my brethren and sisters not to exalt themselves. Let us remember that if we do not heed the warnings given us we shall be among the number represented by the foolish virgins, having lamps, profession, but no oil of grace in our vessels with our lamps” (Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, p. 210, 1923). “The Bible is a book which will teach you how to spend the life here that you may be wise unto salvation. It will teach you how to spend your money for the glory of God. It will teach you how to use your talents to the honor of God. The Bible is the voice of God to your soul. You may obey that voice to the saving of your soul, or you may pursue a course that will be to your eternal ruin” (Signs of the Times, April 8, 1889). For in these last days, our very salvation depends not on what we feel or what we see, but on what we know—and that knowledge is found only in the unshakeable Word of God and the testimony of His prophets. But what is this grand deception confronting us?

PROPHECY’S BATTLEGROUND BLAZES!

The central spiritual issue confronting the final generation is a grand deception, a masterfully orchestrated counterfeit designed to mimic the very authority of God. This is not merely a battle of ideas, but a clash of realities: the reality of God’s heavenly judgment versus the spectacle of Satan’s earthly miracles. The prophet Daniel was given a vision of the true seat of power, the heavenly court where destinies are decided. He wrote, “I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened” (Daniel 7:9–10, KJV). This scene depicts the awesome solemnity of the Investigative Judgment, a work of divine justice and mercy. In stark contrast, the Apostle John describes a counterfeit power on earth, a second beast that mimics this divine authority through spectacular signs. John reveals, “And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men” (Revelation 13:13, KJV). This act is not a random display of power but a direct, theological challenge to the fiery judgment of God described by Daniel, a satanic attempt to usurp divine prerogative and deceive the world into false worship. Through the study of God’s Word, we discern truth from error, as “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105, KJV). The faithful remnant overcomes Satan by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony, for “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death” (Revelation 12:11, KJV).

This final deception is the culmination of all of Satan’s efforts, a strategy foretold by Christ Himself. Jesus warned us with chilling clarity, “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect” (Matthew 24:24, KJV). The power behind this final movement is none other than the great deceiver, whose coming is described by the Apostle Paul as being “after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders” (2 Thessalonians 2:9, KJV). The fire from heaven in Revelation 13 is the centerpiece of these lying wonders, a counterfeit Pentecost designed to validate a false gospel and a false christ. Ellen G. White, in her profound insights, confirms this very point, stating, “He causes fire to come down from heaven in the sight of men. He is to work miracles, and this wonderful, miracle-working power is to sweep in the whole world. This power is the last great deception of the world. The fire from heaven is to deceive the inhabitants of the earth” (Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, p. 365, 1923). This is not a battle to be won with human intellect alone, but through a faith that has been fortified by divine truth. The Scriptures are our only safeguard, for as Sr. White warns, “The time of God’s investigative judgment is clearly pointed out in the Scriptures, and solemn events are linked with it. The opening of the books and the fiery stream before the throne indicate the awfulness of the moment. But Satan has led men to place this judgment far in the future, or to spiritualize it away, while he prepares a counterfeit scene to mimic its solemnity” (Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 4, p. 312, 1884). Through diligent study of prophecy, we are equipped to discern the signs of the times, as “The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law” (Deuteronomy 29:29, KJV). Victory over sin is assured through Christ, for “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (Romans 8:37, KJV). “We need to study the pouring out of the seventh vial. The powers of evil will not yield up the conflict without a struggle. But Providence has a part to act in the battle of Armageddon. When the earth is lighted with the glory of the angel of Revelation eighteen, the religious elements, good and evil, will awake from slumber, and the armies of the living God will take the field” (Last Day Events, p. 251, 1992).

The very nature of this conflict demands that we understand the enemy’s strategy. Satan’s goal is not merely to oppose God, but to impersonate Him. The fire from heaven is the ultimate claim to divinity, a sign historically associated with God’s approval, as seen in the contest between Elijah and the prophets of Baal. By replicating this sign, Satan seeks to place a divine seal upon his apostate system of worship. This is his final, desperate gambit to win the allegiance of the world before his case is eternally lost in the courts of heaven. Sr. White explains the progression of this deception: “Satan sees that he is about to lose his case. He cannot sweep in the whole world. He makes one last desperate effort to overcome the faithful by deception… He will bring fire down from heaven in the sight of men, to give the appearance that God is with him. This lying wonder is to be more fully displayed; fire will come down from heaven and men will be deceived” (Early Writings, p. 59, 1882). This climactic act of deception will be followed by the ultimate counterfeit: the personation of Christ Himself. Sr. White writes, “As the crowning act in the great drama of deception, Satan himself will personate Christ… In different parts of the earth, Satan will manifest himself among men as a majestic being of dazzling brightness, resembling the description of the Son of God given by John in the Revelation… His voice is soft and subdued, yet full of melody. In gentle, compassionate tones he presents some of the same gracious, heavenly truths which the Savior uttered” (The Great Controversy, p. 624, 1911). To stand against such an overwhelming deception, we must be so rooted in the truth of Scripture that no miracle, no matter how spectacular, can sway us from our allegiance to the God of heaven. We must heed the warning: “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1, KJV). Through Christ, we gain victory over the deceiver, as “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4, KJV). “The prophecies of the eleventh of Daniel have almost reached their final fulfillment. Soon the scenes of trouble spoken of in the prophecies will take place” (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 9, p. 14, 1909). “Study the prophecies, and talk of the mysterious power of Him who commanded the waves of the sea to be still. Precious light will shine forth from the Scriptures” (Evangelism, p. 193, 1944). But how can we navigate this treacherous landscape?

HEAVEN’S TRUTH VS EARTH’S ILLUSION!

To navigate the treacherous landscape of last-day events, we must possess a clear, sequential understanding of prophecy. The Bible does not present a confusing jumble of events; rather, it lays out a divine timeline, a roadmap that distinguishes God’s authentic work from Satan’s theatrical imitation. The core of this analysis lies in contrasting the solemn, judicial fire of God’s throne in heaven with the spectacular, deceptive fire Satan calls down on earth. The former represents the initiation of the Investigative Judgment, a process of eternal significance that began in 1844. The prophet Daniel describes this heavenly event: “I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit… A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him… the judgment was set, and the books were opened” (Daniel 7:9–10, KJV). This fire is a symbol of God’s purity, His justice, and His all-consuming presence as He reviews the cases of all who have ever claimed His name. Sr. White clarifies the timing and purpose of this event, stating, “The coming of Christ as our high priest to the most holy place… to perform the work of investigative judgment… is represented in Daniel 7:13, as coming to the Ancient of Days” (The Great Controversy, p. 426, 1911). This heavenly work is silent, unseen by human eyes, yet it is the pivot upon which eternal destinies turn. God’s judgment is righteous and true, as “Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face” (Psalm 89:14, KJV). The sanctuary in heaven is cleansed, fulfilling the prophecy, “Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed” (Daniel 8:14, KJV). “The coming of Christ as our high priest to the most holy place… to perform the work of investigative judgment… is represented in Daniel 7:13, as coming to the Ancient of Days” (The Great Controversy, p. 426, 1911). “The subject of the sanctuary and the investigative judgment should be clearly understood by the people of God. All need a knowledge for themselves of the position and work of their great High Priest. Otherwise, it will be impossible for them to exercise the faith essential at this time, or to occupy the position which God designs them to fill” (The Great Controversy, p. 488, 1911).

In stark opposition, Satan’s work is loud, visible, and designed for public consumption. The fire of Revelation 13:13 is his masterpiece of misdirection, a grand spectacle intended to draw the world’s attention away from the true judgment in heaven and fix it upon his earthly representative. The verse is explicit: “And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men” (Revelation 13:13, KJV). This is not divine power; it is a lying wonder, a counterfeit of the highest order. Sr. White warns, “He causes fire to come down from heaven in the sight of men… This power is the last great deception of the world. The fire from heaven is to deceive the inhabitants of the earth” (Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, p. 365, 1923). This counterfeit fire serves to validate the authority of the beast power, creating a false revival that unites the world in rebellion against God’s law. The apostle Paul foresaw this, warning that some would “not endure sound doctrine” but would turn their ears to fables, and for this reason, “God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie” (2 Timothy 4:3; 2 Thessalonians 2:11, KJV). This delusion finds its ultimate expression in the acceptance of Satan’s authority, authenticated by the fire he calls from heaven. Satan uses unclean spirits to deceive, as “I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles” (Revelation 16:13, 14, KJV). False prophets lead to destruction, for “I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied” (Jeremiah 23:21, KJV). “The enemy of souls desires to hinder this work, and before the time for such a movement shall come, he will endeavor to prevent it by introducing a counterfeit. In those churches which he can bring under his deceptive power, he will make it appear that God’s special blessing is poured out; there will be manifest what is thought to be great religious interest…. There is an emotional excitement, a mingling of the true with the false, that is well adapted to mislead. Yet none need be deceived. In the light of God’s Word it is not difficult to determine the nature of these movements. Wherever men neglect the testimony of the Bible, turning away from those plain, soul-testing truths which require self-denial and renunciation of the world, there we may be sure that God’s blessing is not bestowed” (The Great Controversy, p. 464, 1911). “The enemy is preparing to deceive the whole world by his miracle-working power. He will assume to personate the angels of light, to personate Jesus Christ” (Selected Messages, vol. 2, p. 96, 1958). But what is the sequence of these final events?

DECEPTION’S DEADLY TIMELINE!

Understanding the sequence of these final events is crucial for our preparation. The fire from heaven in Revelation 13:13 is not the final event, but rather the primary test that precedes the close of human probation. It is Satan’s great campaign to consolidate his power and force a worldwide decision. This deception occurs before mercy’s door is shut. Sr. White confirms this timing: “The miracle-working power is to sweep in the whole world. Fire from heaven is to deceive the inhabitants of the earth. These prodigies are to be more fully exhibited” (Early Writings, p. 59, 1882). It is during this period of intense deception that God pours out His Spirit in the Latter Rain to empower His people for the final warning message, the Loud Cry. The prophet Joel foretold this divine empowerment: “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions” (Joel 2:28, KJV). This outpouring is not for our glory, but to ripen the harvest of the earth and seal the righteous for eternity. Sr. White explains, “At that time the latter rain… will prepare the church for the coming of the Son of man” (The Great Controversy, p. 464, 1911). The Latter Rain revives the saints, as “Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain” (James 5:7, KJV). God’s Spirit is poured out in the last days, fulfilling “It shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams” (Acts 2:17, KJV). “At that time the latter rain… will prepare the church for the coming of the Son of man” (The Great Controversy, p. 464, 1911). “The great outpouring of the Spirit of God, which lightens the whole earth with His glory, will not come until we have an enlightened people, that know by experience what it means to be laborers together with God. When we have entire, wholehearted consecration to the service of Christ, God will recognize the fact by an outpouring of His Spirit without measure; but this will not be while the largest portion of the church are not laborers together with God” (Christian Service, p. 253, 1925).

Only after the world has been tested by Satan’s deceptions and God’s final warning, and every soul has made their irrevocable choice, does probation close. This solemn moment is symbolized by the casting down of the censer in Revelation 8. John writes, “And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake” (Revelation 8:5, KJV). This act signifies that Christ’s work of intercession in the heavenly sanctuary has ended. Mercy no longer pleads for the guilty. Sr. White describes this pivotal moment with profound gravity: “When Jesus ceases to plead for man, the cases of all are forever decided… Then the restraining Spirit of God is withdrawn from the earth… The Saviour ceases His intercession in the sanctuary above. Then the solemn announcement is made, ‘He that is unjust, let him be unjust still’” (The Great Controversy, p. 613, 1911). This is not the Latter Rain; it is its opposite. The Latter Rain is an outpouring of grace for salvation; the casting of the censer is an act of finality that unleashes judgment. Following this, the seven last plagues begin to fall upon those who have received the mark of the beast, as described in Revelation 16:1: “And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth” (Revelation 16:1, KJV). The sequence is therefore clear: Satan’s final deception (Rev. 13:13), followed by God’s final empowerment (the Latter Rain), leading to the universal decision that results in the close of probation (Rev. 8:5) and the execution of judgment (the seven last plagues). Probation closes irrevocably, as “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still” (Revelation 22:11, KJV). God’s Spirit ceases striving with man, fulfilling “My spirit shall not always strive with man” (Genesis 6:3, KJV). “When Jesus ceases to plead for man, the cases of all are forever decided… Then the restraining Spirit of God is withdrawn from the earth… The Saviour ceases His intercession in the sanctuary above. Then the solemn announcement is made, ‘He that is unjust, let him be unjust still’” (The Great Controversy, p. 613, 1911). “When the third angel’s message closes, mercy no longer pleads for the guilty inhabitants of the earth. The people of God have accomplished their work. They have received ‘the latter rain,’ ‘the refreshing from the presence of the Lord,’ and they are prepared for the trying hour before them” (The Great Controversy, p. 613, 1911). How can we see God’s love amidst these terrifying scenes?

LOVE SHINES IN JUDGMENT’S SHADOW!

How, you might ask, can we see God’s love amidst these terrifying scenes of judgment, deception, and wrath? It is a fair question, one that strikes at the very heart of the great controversy. God’s love is not found in the absence of judgment, but in the very nature of His warnings and the path of escape He provides. His love is the unwavering light that exposes the counterfeit, the steady voice that calls us to safety before the storm breaks. Consider this: God did not have to reveal Satan’s endgame. He could have left us in darkness, to be ambushed by the final delusion. Instead, through His prophets, He has meticulously detailed the enemy’s strategy, from the false miracles to the impersonation of Christ, so that we might not be caught unaware. This is the love of a Father who arms His children for battle. Furthermore, the Investigative Judgment itself, while solemn, is an act of love. It is the process by which our loving Advocate, Jesus, presents His own blood to cover our confessed sins, securing our place in His eternal kingdom. It is a judgment that seeks to save, not to condemn. The Bible affirms this, stating, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:17, KJV). The most profound expression of His love, however, is found in the very sacrifice that makes our salvation possible. Sr. White explains this with beautiful clarity: “But this great sacrifice was not made in order to create in the Father’s heart a love for man, not to make Him willing to save. No, no! ‘God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son.’ The Father loves us, not because of the great propitiation, but He provided the propitiation because He loves us. Christ was the medium through which He could pour out His infinite love upon a fallen world” (Steps to Christ, pp. 13-14, 1892). God’s love is the foundation, not the result, of our redemption. It is the reason for the warning, the hope within the judgment, and the power that will ultimately deliver us. God’s mercy is rich, as “God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ” (Ephesians 2:4, 5, KJV). Christ’s death demonstrates love, for “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8, KJV). “But this great sacrifice was not made in order to create in the Father’s heart a love for man, not to make Him willing to save. “God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16, KJV).

In light of these momentous truths, what then is our responsibility to God? It is not a passive role of simply waiting for prophecy to fulfill itself. We are called to be active, intelligent participants in the final chapter of salvation history. Our primary responsibility is to cultivate a deep, personal relationship with Christ through diligent study of His Word. The deceptions of the last days are designed to be so convincing that only those whose minds are fortified with biblical truth will stand. We must obey the command to “Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. (Luke 13:24, KJV). This striving involves more than a casual reading of scripture; it requires us to test every teaching, every miracle, and every spirit against the unerring standard of “the law and to the testimony” (Isaiah 8:20, KJV). Our responsibility is to ensure our faith is not built on the shifting sands of emotion or experience, but on the solid rock of “Thus saith the Lord.” This leads to a life of complete surrender and obedience, not as a burdensome duty, but as a joyful response to His love. True obedience is the natural fruit of a heart transformed by grace. As Sr. White so eloquently states, “All true obedience comes from the heart. It was heart work with Christ. And if we consent, He will so identify Himself with our thoughts and aims, so blend our hearts and minds into conformity to His will, that when obeying Him we shall be but carrying out our own impulses. The will, refined and sanctified, will find its highest delight in doing His service. When we know God as it is our privilege to know Him, our life will be a life of continual obedience” (The Desire of Ages, p. 668, 1898). Our duty, therefore, is to consent, to yield our will to His, so that our lives become a living testimony to the truth that sets men free. We must meditate on God’s law day and night, as “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8, KJV). Hide God’s Word in our hearts to avoid sin, for “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11, KJV). “All true obedience comes from the heart. 668, 1898). “The Lord calls for united action. Well-organized efforts must be made to secure those who are in peril of eternal loss. We are to do all we can to save those who are ready to perish” (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 9, p. 126, 1909).

Our responsibility, however, does not end with our own salvation. We are our brother’s keeper, and God has entrusted us with a life-saving message for a dying world. In a world reeling toward deception, our duty to our neighbor is to be a beacon of truth and a channel of God’s love. This requires more than just preaching doctrines; it demands that we live out the principles of heaven in our daily interactions. The standard for this interaction is the golden rule, a principle that transcends mere civility and enters the realm of divine empathy. Christ commanded, “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets” (Matthew 7:12, KJV). This is not a passive suggestion but an active command to put ourselves in the place of others—to feel their sorrows, understand their struggles, and minister to their needs with the same tenderness we would desire for ourselves. This principle must be the engine of our ministry, breaking down walls of prejudice and opening hearts to the gospel. Sr. White describes this as the very essence of true religion: “The golden rule is the principle of true courtesy, and its truest illustration is seen in the life and character of Jesus… In our association with others, put yourself in their place. Enter into their feelings, their difficulties, their disappointments, their joys, and their sorrows… If we would be treated justly and mercifully, we must treat others in the same manner” (Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing, pp. 134-135, 1896). Our responsibility to our neighbor is to reflect the character of Christ so clearly that they are drawn not to us, but to Him. It is to warn with love, to correct with compassion, and to serve with a humility that points every soul to the only source of hope and salvation, our Lord Jesus Christ. Bear one another’s burdens, as “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2, KJV). Love neighbor as self, for “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Leviticus 19:18, KJV). “The golden rule is the principle of true courtesy, and its truest illustration is seen in the life and character of Jesus… In our association with others, put yourself in their place. Enter into their feelings, their difficulties, their disappointments, their joys, and their sorrows… If we would be treated justly and mercifully, we must treat others in the same manner” (Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing, pp. 134-135, 1896). “Our duty is to live in the atmosphere of Christ’s love, to breathe His love deeply, to reflect it all around us, to be living epistles known and read of all men. We shall thus draw men and women to Christ, and shall be instrumental in saving many souls” (The Signs of the Times, February 17, 1898). As I reflect on these solemn truths, what grounds my faith?

PERSONAL FAITH REFLECTIONS!

As I reflect on these solemn truths, I have to ask myself: Is my faith truly grounded in the Word, or is it propped up by experience, emotion, or the traditions of others? Am I diligently studying to be prepared for the coming crisis, or am I coasting on past knowledge, assuming I am safe? The counterfeit fire is designed to deceive those who live by sight, and the counterfeit Christ is designed to appeal to the heart that is not fully surrendered. These deceptions will be so masterfully executed that only a deep, abiding, personal relationship with the true Christ, cultivated daily through prayer and study, can provide the spiritual discernment to stand. We must lead by example. We must create a culture in our churches that values deep, prayerful Bible study above all else. We must move our people beyond a surface-level faith to one that is robust, intelligent, and ready to give an answer for the hope that is within us. The challenge before us is to ensure that we, and those we minister to, are so intimately acquainted with the Shepherd’s voice that the voice of the stranger, no matter how melodious or convincing, will have no appeal. We must be ready to give an answer, as “Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3:15, KJV). Fear lest we fall short, for “Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it” (Hebrews 4:1, KJV). “The Lord calls for united action. Well-organized efforts must be made to secure those who are in peril of eternal loss. We are to do all we can to save those who are ready to perish” (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 9, p. 126, 1909). “In the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away” (2 Timothy 3:1-5, KJV). What marks the final scenes?

FINAL CLASH AND VICTORY!

The final scenes of this world’s history will be marked by a dramatic clash between divine reality and satanic spectacle. In one arena, the solemn, unseen work of the Investigative Judgment proceeds in heaven, based on the unchangeable law of God. In the other, a flamboyant, earthly display of counterfeit miracles, culminating in fire from heaven, seeks to captivate the world and redirect its worship. Yet, in His infinite mercy, God has not left us in darkness. He has provided a clear prophetic timeline, unmasking the enemy’s strategy and detailing the sequence of final events—from the great deception, to the empowering Latter Rain, to the final close of probation. Our duty is clear: we must anchor our souls to the immutable Word of God, fortify our minds with its truths, and lovingly warn all who will listen. The trial will be fierce, the deception almost overwhelming, but our hope is secure. Our God is in control. As Sr. White so comfortingly reminds us, “He who rules in the heavens is our Saviour. He measures every trial. He watches the furnace fire that must test every soul.” (Review and Herald, January 11, 1887). In His Word, we find our safety. In His strength, we find our victory. We wrestle against spiritual powers, for “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12, KJV). Faith overcomes the world, as “Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4, KJV). “He who rules in the heavens is our Saviour. He measures every trial. He watches the furnace fire that must test every soul” (Review and Herald, January 11, 1887). 253, 1925).

“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light” (Romans 13:11, 12, KJV).
