SONSHIP: POWER, LOVE AND RESPONSIBILITY

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse” (Romans 1:20, KJV).

ABSTRACT

This article delves into the profound revelation of God’s love through creation, highlighting Christ’s central role as Creator, inspiring awe, gratitude, and stewardship while calling the community to reflect divine harmony in worship and relationships.

BEHOLD THE CREATOR’S MASTERPIECE!

Creation is an intricate masterpiece that reflects God’s power, authority, and boundless love. As the Creator, Jesus Christ is central to all existence. “All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made” (John 1:3, KJV). Ellen G. White underscores this truth, stating, “It was Christ that spread the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth” (The Desire of Ages, p. 20). Scripture highlights this further as God hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds (Hebrews 1:2, KJV). Moreover, to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ (Ephesians 3:9, KJV). Sr. White explains, “God created man in His own image. Here is no mystery. There is no ground for the supposition that man was evolved by slow degrees of development from the lower forms of animal or vegetable life” (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 44, 1890). She further states, “The work of creation cannot be explained by science. What science can explain the mystery of life?” (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 115, 1890). This blog explores how creation reveals God’s love, challenges us to reflect it in worship and relationships, and calls for stewardship of both the earth and one another, but how does the Bible establish Christ’s preeminence as the Creator?

DIVINE POWER UNLEASHED!

The Bible establishes Christ’s preeminence as the Creator. Paul writes, “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible… all things were created by him, and for him” (Colossians 1:16–17, KJV). This reminds us that everything, from galaxies to lilies, reflects His intentional design. Sr. White adds, “He filled the earth with beauty, and the air with song” (The Desire of Ages, p. 20). Scripture illustrates this with by the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth (Psalm 33:6, KJV). Moreover, lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth (Isaiah 40:26, KJV). Sr. White affirms, “Every manifestation of creative power is an expression of infinite love. The sovereignty of God involves fullness of blessing to all created beings” (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 33, 1890). She further notes, “The same power that upholds nature, is working also in man. The same great laws that guide alike the star and the atom control human life. The laws that govern the heart’s action, regulating the flow of the current of life to the body, are the laws of the mighty Intelligence that has the jurisdiction of the soul. From Him all life proceeds. Only in harmony with Him can be found its true sphere of action. For all the objects of His creation the condition is the same—a life sustained by receiving the life of God, a life exercised in harmony with the Creator’s will. To transgress His law, physical, mental, or moral, is to place one’s self out of harmony with the universe, to introduce discord, anarchy, ruin” (Education, p. 99, 1903). Creation’s harmony showcases divine care and order, inspiring awe and humility. How often do we pause to consider the intricate details of God’s work? Recognizing this majesty calls us to worship the Creator who sustains all life, but how does creation do more than display power?

LOVE IN EVERY BLOOM!

Creation does more than display power; it declares God’s love. Jesus urged us to “consider the lilies of the field, how they grow… even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these” (Matthew 6:28–29, KJV). Nature’s beauty, provision, and balance reflect God’s care. Sr. White states, “Upon all things in earth, and air, and sky, He wrote the message of the Father’s love” (The Desire of Ages, p. 20). Scripture reveals this with the heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork (Psalm 19:1, KJV). Moreover, to him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever (Psalm 136:5, KJV). Sr. White emphasizes, “Nature and revelation alike testify of God’s love. Our Father in heaven is the source of life, of wisdom, and of joy. Look at the wonderful and beautiful things of nature” (Steps to Christ, p. 9, 1892). She adds, “Upon all created things is seen the impress of the Deity. Nature testifies of God. The susceptible mind, brought in contact with the miracle and mystery of the universe, cannot but recognize the working of infinite power. Not by its own inherent energy does the earth produce its bounties, and year by year continue its motion around the sun. An unseen hand guides the planets in their circuit of the heavens” (Education, p. 99, 1903). Rain, sunlight, and seasons sustain life, reminding us of God’s grace. When we see creation’s wonders, do we also see God’s hand providing for us? Recognizing this love encourages trust in Him and care for the world He entrusted to us, but how is worship more than rituals?

Worship is more than rituals; it is a lifestyle of gratitude and obedience. Paul instructs, “Ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:20, KJV). This aligns with Sr. White’s assertion: “It was His hand that hung the worlds in space, and fashioned the flowers of the field” (The Desire of Ages, p. 20). Scripture shows this with if ye love me, keep my commandments (John 14:15, KJV). Moreover, behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams (1 Samuel 15:22, KJV). Sr. White declares, “Instead of releasing man from obedience, it is faith, and faith only, that makes us partakers of the grace of Christ, which enables us to render obedience” (Steps to Christ, p. 60, 1892). She further asserts, “True obedience is the outworking of a principle within. It springs from the love of righteousness, the love of the law of God. The essence of all righteousness is loyalty to our Redeemer. This will lead us to do right because it is right–because right doing is pleasing to God” (Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 97, 1900). Obedience to God’s commandments reflects gratitude for His gifts. The Ten Commandments serve as a moral compass, guiding us to love God and others. As we live in obedience, our actions become acts of worship, drawing others to His truth. How can our daily choices reflect gratitude for His love, especially as God’s care for creation mirrors how we should treat one another?

God’s care for creation mirrors how we should treat one another. Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” (John 13:35, KJV). Stewardship of relationships means fostering unity, compassion, and forgiveness. Sr. White observed, “He filled the earth with beauty, and the air with song” (The Desire of Ages, p. 20). Scripture demonstrates this with beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God (1 John 4:7, KJV). Moreover, and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you (Ephesians 4:32, KJV). Sr. White observes, “When the love of Christ is enshrined in the heart, like sweet fragrance it cannot be hidden. Its holy influence will be felt by all with whom we come in contact. The spirit of Christ in the heart is like a spring in the desert, flowing to refresh all and making those who are ready to perish, eager to drink of the water of life” (Steps to Christ, p. 77, 1892). She adds, “Love to man is the earthward manifestation of the love of God. It was to implant this love, to make us children of one family, that the King of glory became one with us. And when His parting words are fulfilled, ‘Love one another, as I have loved you’ (John 15:12); when we love the world as He has loved it, then for us His mission is accomplished. We are fitted for heaven; for we have heaven in our hearts” (The Desire of Ages, p. 641, 1898). Similarly, our lives should reflect beauty through acts of service and kindness. Supporting those in need—physically, emotionally, or spiritually—demonstrates God’s sustaining love. Are we extending God’s care to those around us, or are we falling short of this calling as the splendor of creation invites us to action?

REFORM WITH LOVE!

The splendor of creation invites us to action. “For in him we live, and move, and have our being” (Acts 17:28, KJV). Sr. White writes, “Upon all things… He wrote the message of the Father’s love” (The Desire of Ages, p. 20). Scripture conveys this with for the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead (2 Corinthians 5:14, KJV). Moreover, we love him, because he first loved us (1 John 4:19, KJV). Sr. White notes, “The love of God still yearns over the one who has chosen to separate from Him, and He sets in operation influences to bring him back to the Father’s house” (Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 202, 1900). She further explains, “It is the love of God continually transferred to man that enables him to impart light. Into the hearts of all who are united to God by faith the golden oil of love flows freely, to shine out again in good works, in real, heartfelt service for God” (Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 418, 1900). This love calls us to worship God wholeheartedly and reflect His care in stewardship and relationships. How will we respond? Will we care for creation, honor God through obedience, and demonstrate love to others? Let our lives echo the beauty and harmony of creation, pointing others to God’s grace and glory, but how is God’s love evident in creation’s design?

REFLECT THE ETERNAL GLORY!

God’s love is evident in creation’s design, which sustains and nourishes life. For example, the harmony in nature reflects His care: “Consider the lilies… even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these” (Matthew 6:28–29, KJV). Sr. White emphasizes, “He filled the earth with beauty, and the air with song” (The Desire of Ages, p. 20). Scripture expresses this with the Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works (Psalm 145:9, KJV). Moreover, every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17, KJV). Sr. White declares, “God made man perfectly holy and happy; and the fair earth, as it came from the Creator’s hand, bore no blight of decay or shadow of the curse. It is transgression of God’s law–the law of love–that has brought woe and death. Yet even amid the suffering that results from sin, God’s love is revealed. It is written that God cursed the ground for man’s sake. Genesis 3:17. The thorn and the thistle–the difficulties and trials that make his life one of toil and care–were appointed for his good, as a part of the training needful in God’s plan for his uplifting from the ruin and degradation that sin has wrought” (Steps to Christ, p. 9, 1892). She adds, “All things Christ received from God, but He took to give. So in the heavenly courts, in His ministry for all created beings: through the beloved Son, the Father’s life flows out to all; through the Son it returns, in praise and joyous service, a tide of love, to the great Source of all” (The Desire of Ages, p. 21, 1898). Recognizing this care inspires trust in God and calls us to reflect His love in our actions. As stewards, we honor God by protecting His creation and serving others, showcasing His sustaining grace. Let us live in gratitude, reflecting God’s love through worship, relationships, and stewardship, inviting the world to see His glory.
